History

In the year 2011, Sandy Claws and his friends invited Santa to come to Ocean City, MD for SantaCon. They invited some merry OC elves to meet them at the dead shark on the boardwalk, and they waited patiently for Santa Claus to arrive.

At first, it appeared that Santa was too busy to visit Ocean City right before Christmas. Two lonely Santas and one reindeer waited on the boardwalk for Santa to arrive.

And then…

One by one, and two by two, Santa arrived! Santa had a jolly time greeting other Santas, and they took some silly pictures by the inlet (Tebowing was a thing in 2011). Santa’s reindeer then delivered the jolly elves to the world famous Cork Bar and Grill, and Santa took over Wicomico Street!

Santa then made his way north on the boardwalk, and more silly photos were taken.

That night, Santa spread the jolly all over Ocean City, and a tradition was born. SantaCon OCMD now hosts more than 1,000 Santas each year! While Santa is here, he stays in OC hotels, he eats in OC restaurants, he (definitely) drinks in OC bars, and he supports Ocean City charities.

We hope that you will join Santa this year to spread holiday cheer on our favorite island of misfit toys and support your favorite charities. HOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO!
